We have 12 beds on one unit that are queen size, flat beds. They are not
electric. Needless to say vaginal delivery mothers get those beds. It is a
challenge to not "break" our backs in those rooms. We have been known to take our
shoes off and literally crawl up on the bed with mom to avoid injurying
ourselves. Of course if she hasn't started nursing when we get to the room we use
one of the chairs and pull it up to the bed. The arms are at the exact level
of the mattress, it makes for a great ledge to put a pillow and teach a
football hold (American football, of course!). It is never easy for us in those
rooms. We take turns working on that unit.
