Good question. There are many midwives and other  professionals who just 
leave well enough alone, unless the baby is having a  difficulty that would make 
one want to check it out for some reason. Others have  the same strategy as the 
peds who check the baby who needs it, but then declare  that the baby has a 
"very strong suck" and mom should have no  problems which often ends up meaning 
they actually have  poor  breastfeeding technique, cause soreness, have lousy 
milk transfer but are  clamping like crazy to compensate...
