I thought Evenflo was claiming to now be a WHO Code compliant company?

Their twitter account, EvenfloBaby, is here:

http://twitter.com/EvenfloBaby

They are currently advertising their feeding bottles and teats using that twitter account. See a retweet datestamped Tue Mar 15 02:22:20 2011 :

"BabbleEditors @EvenfloBaby Congrats! Your product has been chosen as one of Babble's Best Baby Baby Bottles! http://su.pr/1mEUUi" "Retweeted by EvenfloBaby"

This link that Evenflo chose to advertise is one where Babble has chosen to promote a number of feeding bottles. Whether this advertorial on Babble was solicited by Evenflo or not (which we do not know), Evenflo's retweet is advertising direct to the public and is therefore a breach of the Code.

Another tweet by EvenfloBaby, datestamped 4:48 AM Mar 1st, reads:

"Baby fussy after feeding? Check out TruVent angled bottles - they help reduce air intake: http://bit.ly/fJknsr "

I didn't go further back than that on their twitter account.

Their Facebook page does not carry these particular advertisements, but is currently soliciting weaning stories on their front page ("weaning" as in stopping breastfeeding, not starting solids):

"March 5 at 3:57am: Mommy and Keeping up with the Kardashians star Kourtney Kardashian just posted about weaning baby Mason off breast feeding. Click here to read more: http://bit.ly/eJfk06. When did you stop breast feeding? Tell us about your experience!"

Back on February 5, they posted the following (it's still on their Facebook Wall front page):

"Did you know over-tightening a baby bottle can actually make it leakier? If your bottle is leaking, try backing off the tightness a little bit and see if that does the trick! What other tips do you have for baby bottles?"

URL: http://www.facebook.com/#!/EvenfloBaby?sk=wall

I think Evenflo would be hard pressed to try to say that they're not currently seeking direct contact with pregnant women and mothers of infants. They are actively advertising, promoting and normalising products within the scope of the Code in their marketing programme, despite their recent vocal commitment to the Code and claim that they had become compliant.

Next question is, what are they going to do about it?
