I find that giving guidance about protecting formula fed babies from infection usually brings the point home. I use the WHO information about preparing and storing powdered infant formula and offer some more suggestions such as: Because babies who are fed infant formula are so much more vulnerable to infections, you'll need to be extra vigilant about making sure everyone who handles the baby washes their hands first. If you or your partner comes home from work on public transport, or works with the public, it will be important that you/he washes his hands and changes his clothes before handling the baby. It will also be extra important to make sure that the baby doesn't come into contact with people who are or have recently been ill (colds, flu, gastro etc).
Cheers
