I am working on a project and want to identify where all the actively
meeting mother-to-mother and peer support groups are meeting (free groups
in
particular) in the United States. I'm not looking for groups that are run by
a professional (that may come later)>>

You could have a look at the WABA e-map of mother support groups:

Reading the WABA Mother Support e-letter might well help as well.
(available in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese & Arabic!!) - this is a
very interesting resource on breastfeeding advocacy around the world.
