Hi all,
Today the NICU manager at our hospital told me that she has a RN who has
her baby brought to her to breastfeed while she is at lunch in the break
room. One of the NICU Drs saw her and complained - no one is sure why he
complained. The manager asked if I could find out if any other hospital has
a policy about employees babies coming into the unit to breastfeed. We
don't have a breastfeeding room or any room nearby that is not part of the
unit. Our employess can use our lactation office to pump or feed in but only
when we are there, it is locked on weekends and is quite aways from the NICU
unit. If any of you have a policy that addresses babies coming onto the
floor to feed could you share it with me? Thanks. Judith IBCLC RLC
