I use the #5 36" tube, but  break it off about a third of the way down, 
where there is this black 'dot" on the actual tube.  It gives me about 
a two-thirds of the entire length, i.e., about 20 inches instead of 36. 
 I also never use it with the shield, but that's just me :-)
