Dear Cindy,

I taught nursing at our local community college for five years. When I had
my first son, he was three weeks early, had a c-section, and returned to work
in three weeks, due to insurance. I was offered the chance, from my boss to
bring the baby with me. At first I said no thanks, but then after having him,
I couldn't bear to leave him and did bring him. I wore him on a front pack,
or he slept in his carrier for 6 months. It was the best thing I have ever
done, and since have brought 3 out of my 4 children to work with me. I always
say that I practice what I preach. I had the support of the Dean to the Vice
President of the entire system. At the end, everyone was asking me where
Teddy was when he was not at my side. I figure he has an associates degree
from the osmosis of the classes he attended. It is truly sad that our society
sees children as a burden, and not as a blessing. If you need any help, I
would be happy to write a letter of support, if that would help.

Warmly,
Dawn Lanser, RN,BSN,LCCE,IBCLC

mom of Teddy, Beth, Daniel and Bailey.
