Yes, I saw the program.  Yes, my own daughter has Down Syndrome, and I've
nursed her for 18+ months.  Had to pump and feed it to her by alternative
means for awhile before her open-heart surgery at 8 months.  Pediatrician
wanted to be able to "measure" how much she was getting, since there was a
problem with weight gain.  (The heart defect she had increases caloric
requirements, sometimes as much as double.)  Her gross motor is minimally
delayed (her surgery was right in the middle of what should've been a big
gross motor developmental "spurt").  She began walking at 16 months, but
still isn't real steady.  Otherwise she's made milestones "on time" for
fine motor, language, social, adaptive, and cognitive. (Just completed
evaluations for the new school year.)  She's been on Nutrivene-D since 12
months.  Hard to say whether it's made any difference, since she might've
done this well without it :), but it hasn't hurt her.  She's not on
Piracetam.  I still think of breastmilk as the ultimate brain-food, too.
The best part was being able to nurse her for comfort after heart surgey!
