Carole,

Our mothers double pump with a hospital grade pump. Single pumping--one
breast only, q 3hr. is not a bad idea. Think I'll try it with my next over
producer. While bringing supply down, we have mothers decrease saturated
fat, watch carefully for plugs and get on top of them right away (pardon the
pun). We also review signs and syptoms of mastitis since we find that our
mothers are at risk for this as they work to decrease their supply. We would
also instruct the mother to pump just a little on the side she doesn't empty
if needed for comfort.
