Linda asks about whether we know if a newborn who doesn't receive adequate
breastmilk in the first 2 weeks or so of life will suffer brain damage.

Maybe we don't know for sure - but I would put my money on it not causing a
problem in so short a time. However, getting back to what we do know: and
that is that artificial formula definitely will cause brain damage - and
that has been very well researched and documented. A loss of 8 - 10 IQ
points and decreased vision and speech development to me is pretty serious
brain damage.
