HI All,
Have a mom with a family history of very resistant yeast. She and baby now
have thrush. In a case where there is a family history of treatment
resistant yeast (regular yeast meds for vag yeast have no effect on this mom)
would you:
1) recommend big guns treatment (Diflucan)
or
2)Start with the basics and see if they work?

Baby is on Nystatin suspension, which Dr told mom to use on her nipps as
well. She has Nystatin cream that her mom was prescribed for a skin yeast
infection and was wondering about using that instead of asking her Dr for the
Nysta cream for herself. Any thoughts about this? I told her to at least
check the exp date, but I wasn't sure if she shouldn't just go get some for
herself.
Also, I know that one of our esteemed Lactnetters wrote a book on Yeast. WHo
was it and what is the name of the book? (Sorry, I know I would recognize it
if I saw it, but am totally brain dead right now. Ben has roseola, and is
still waking several times at night. ;/ ) I think this mom would benefit
from a great book like this to help her and her family combat this yeastie
beastie!

TIA!!!
Jay
In Sunny Sacramento, where it seems more and more moms are fighting the
yeastie beasties lately....
