As a postpartum doula/La Leche League Leader,
I recommend:

  Breastfeeding Made Simple: Seven Natural Laws
for Nursing Mothers -- Nancy Mohrbacher, IBCLC,FILCA
and Kathleen Kendal-Tackett, Ph.D., IBCLC

In addition to The Womanly Art (LLLI).

I recommend that they purchase BOTH books because
they serve two different purposes:  BFMS is a fast read;
fabulous "how to" and great for quick reference checks.

The WAB is boarder in scope and, in my opinion, in depth.
In addition it takes mom from infancy to extended breastfeeding,
weaning and tandem nursing (in depth)

Bottom line: BOTH ARE A MUST HAVE !!
