I had never heard of it before working for WIC (started 10 years ago) but 
most of the mothers who need to thicken use rice cereal.  This is mostly for a 
formula fed baby who is spitting up all the time (wonder why?).  Mom's put it 
in the bottle, very dangerous practice but is sometimes recommended by 
doctors.

Is this the type of thickening info you were looking for?
