I hope someone can help me on this please.
I have a mom who resantly had a ceasarean. General anaestatic. Baby is nearly 2
weeks old. Mom is breastfeeding baby. She had a rough couple of days at the
beginning. She developed mastitis and had severe nipple pain and was very sore
from ceasarean. I saw her, latched baby on breast, checked positioning and
phoned her doctor to prescribe antibiotics. Baby had white patches in mouth and
mom had a vaginal infection. I told her I think they have trush and she got
medication for that. Next day she felt better.
Only problem is that she has terrible headache spells - megrim. This started
with the mastitis. She has at least 2 a day. Mastitis is cleared up but megrim
spells continue.
She went to a docter yesterday and she believes that she had a underlying
sinisitus-megrim condition all these years, inherrited from her father, who
suffers from this condition and that because of her high tempratures with
mastitis this condition surviced. The docter told her that she cannot help her
in any way because she is breastfeeding. Is there anyone who delt with this
before? Are there any other possible reasons for these megrim spells? and
lastly is there any medication or herbal remedies she can use for these "sinus-
megrim" spells?
I got her permission to ask this on lactnet. She is a keen breastfeeder and
will carry on bf, it's just that it would be nicer without megim.
