Sorry about the last post ...

We have a mom and baby we are working with - same story heard around the
world - too much IV fluids, edema, and engorged breasts with flat nipples
(obviously from the engorgement) . Baby was "restricted growth in utero', with
our guidance she progressed from nipple shield and sns finger feeds to complete
bare nipple in less then a week. This mom is amazing - we all want this
type of mom - she is so dedicated and would not give up. The Dad is equally
dedicated, as he was breast fed as a baby. Baby was tiny at birth just
under 5 lbs. and gaining, the only problem is a bad diaper rash that is getting
progressively worse. The baby is also "leaking' stools at almost every diaper
change. Mom has been to the peds office every few days, they tried every
combination of ointments and treatments, no wipes, changed diapers from disposable
to cloth. We reccommended acidophilus and breast milk as a paste also.&
nbsp; The last ped told this mom yesterday that she should stop nursing - it is
probually the breast milk that is doing this to the baby. Thankfully
this mom is smart and is not believing this information. Mom has eliminated
dairy from her diet and will start eliminating wheat next. Has anyone seen a rash
that lasts two to three weeks and looks almost like a second degree burn.
Could it be the thyroid meds the mom is on? Any one have any ideas?
The mom is trying to get to gastro asap.

Thanks for any info.
