Dear Everybody, especially those with an interest in neonatal issues:
on the programme for the next ALCA Vic Branch conference in March, called
Milk and Sugar (infant feeding, hypoglycaemia and diabetes) we have a slot
for a presentation on

the glycemic impact of neonatal feeding products and infant care practices

The idea is to make the point that in looking after infants at risk of
disturbed blood sugar levels, we all need to consider the impact of
practices such as separation from another warm body, pain, stress, cold as
well as the composition of the fluids given, from glucose water to
sweetened condednsed milk to various brands of formula. If we don't know
what the impact of such things is, and go on doing them, maybe we're the
problem.

Can you believe that we have not been able to get any paediatric
nutritionist to take this on, because they have done searches and found no
answers to present, and don't want to stand up and say, hey, we don't know
about this? So in addition to organising the other speakers I am now
looking at working up a presentation that highlights what we don't know and
should know as much as what we do.

Any input from anyone will be much appreciated and probably save me time,
my most precious commodity at present, so I look forward to seeing what
contributions come to the net or to me personally.

Thanks,

Maureen Minchin
