I have noted a couple comments about yeast in used bras, pumps and other
items.
Correct me if I'm wrong, and if you do I would like some scientific
explanation, but yeast around us is not the evil, feared entity.
Yeast is every where. In our bodies and the places we live and work. We are
it's host and unless there are circumstances to allow the yeast to over grow,
our life goes on uneventfully.
Yeast is opportunistic. So if we stay healthy and our bodies fight organisms
or illnesses without much difficulties, we keep the yeast growth in check.
Not everyone is equal in their ability to fight off illnesses so therefore
they are more vulnerable to yeast infections (which is not really an
infection).
I do not believe that a mother who has had a problem with yeast in or on her
breast carries this problem in her milk. I do believe in approaches to
decrease yeast growth when there is a problem but not the breast milk itself.
Please give me proof that a mother's milk is the problem but until then
please do not tell a mother that her milk is contaminated with yeast and
therefore not good to give her baby.
