It seems to me that to change a woman's meds to metformin and stop
breastfeeding may not be as fruitful for the disease as forgetting the
metformin, and continuing breastfeeding, given the improved control
breastfeeding may offer by increasing calorie/glucose utilization. The
endocrinologist my be enlightened by learning about the advantages of
breastfeeding to a diabetic mom.-Anne Eglash MD
