I am one of two LC's at a hospital with about 1800 deliveries a year.  I
am FT (75hr/2 wks), my colleague is PT (37.5hr/2 wks). We also have a 12
bed level 2 nursery.

We provide coverage M-F, usually between the hours of 7-3PM.  Frequently
the  Part-time LC works a Sat or Sun and some holidays.  Our goal is to
not have more than two days without an LC on, although sometime with
vacations that is not the possible.  About once a week our hours may
overlap.

Our services are similar to what you describe.
      We see about 99% of inpatients
      Make f/u phone calls at 2-3 days post d/c and then again at 2
wks(more often if needed)
     See outpt with problems (about one/wk)
     Available for phone consultations
     Provide staff inservice and write policies pertaining to
breastfeeding issues.
     Maintain a pump loaner program
     Promote breastfeeding in our prenatal clinic

We are quite busy at times, but all in all I do feel we are staffed well
enough to provide the services our patient need.
