Anna, micro adenoma should not be considered for mom's just because of a
bountiful milk supply. The reason I suggested it for the mom discussed
in "very painful letdown" is because she reported pain so severe she
almost couldn't nurse, required pain med prior to feedings and an
unusually excessive volume of milk, "she can easily pump 20 oz", (her
baby is 1mo). This mom's symptoms are similar to, but are more extreme,
than many other moms. She was already wearing cabbage leaves all day. A
blood test for prolactin level is used to screen for micro adenoma.
Note: this is not a common finding, I only suggested it because of the
severity of mom's symptoms. 20 oz plus is a lot for an occasional
pumping session where mom is just trying to relieve a bit of the
pressure for comfort.
