Hello, I would like to thank everyone who gave me input on my first try at
helping a downs baby a few weeks ago. This baby had virtually no experience
at breast when coming to me - mom had been pumping for 2 months.  With the
use of a nipple shield and lots of practise with positioning, AND a very
determined mom, I am happy to report that the baby is completely off of the
shield! mom reports that baby is nursing very frequently and is gaining
weight.  I will be doing a weight check next week (crossing fingers) - mom
continues to supplement with nutramigen, but is ecstatic that breastfeeding
is going so well.
