I have to respond to the debate on alcohol vs. nothing on cord stumps. As the
mom of 4, I diligently swabbed my first two kids with alcohol at every diaper
change. Both cord stumps dropped off in 6 days with no problems. Babies 3 & 4
I did nothing and 3 took 3 weeks to drop off and 4 took 4 weeks! Plus both had
problems looking oozy and yucky. They finally dropped off after I took to
swabbing with alcohol, after only 2 days swabbing! I know this is anecdotal but
that was my experience. Can't see that alcohol which is a drying agent is a
problem. Maybe my cases were unique? Anyone else with a similar experience?
