Hi all
At the risk of sounding like a scratched record (??CD), could we try and give
the generic name of any drugs, as brand names vary greatly from country to
country, and those of us outside the US are often in the dark about what is
being talked about.

In response to Kim's questions
Cortisone - My source (Royal Women's Hospital Drugs and Breastfeeding Guide)
says that corticosteroids such as cortisone may be used in breastfeeding women.
They say that if the dose of cortisone is 100mg per day or long term, then
nursing should be avoided 3-4 hours post dose. If the steroids are injected into
the acne lesions, it would probably cause less absorption into the bloodstream
than oral doses.

Cipro - I presume this is ciprofloxacin. My source isn't very helpful, only
mentioning that it is excreted into milk and that it should be avoided if possible.
In Australia its use is limited to a few infections, and usually an alternative
can be found for most problems. What sort of infections do these mothers have??

Unisyn - don't know what this is, sorry!!

Hope this helps
