Catherine,

I understand your point completely. My desire to get the CBC credentials was
to receive as much education as possible prior to accumulating the large
amount of hours needed to sit for the exam. My intentions are not to pass myself
off as being as educated or as experienced as a Certified Lactation
Consultant. I do refer any "train wreck" to an IBCLC. I am looking for someone to ask
questions and to shadow on their "train wrecks." In nursing school and while
working towards my Masters at Columbia University I found that many nurses
were reluctant to help peers. "They eat their young" is the way we described
instructors. I am hoping that this will not be the atmosphere I run into while
accumulating my hours. My genuine desire is to help Mothers to breastfeed. I
am not looking to steal clients or to pass myself off as something I am not.
I am looking for someone to pass their expertise onto me. Thank you for all
the replies. I do have some great leads and I look forward to joining the
profession and hopefully furthering it in the future!

Thank you for the advise to join the Consortium. I have joined and look
forward to the first conference in March!

Thank you,

Rebbecca Rosen RN, BSN, CBC
