FYI:: Somebody I know called the Similac hotline because her baby
refused to breastfeed after taking one bottle of Similac. The
representative, a male who was obviously uncomfortable with a question
relating to breastfeeding, said he would put her in touch with a
*lactation specialist.* She was then transferred to another person, a
woman. When the mother asked about the *lactation specialist's*
qualifications, the representative said she did not know what they
were and had no way of finding out. The mother did not feel
comfortable giving her phone number to Similac to get a call from a
*lactation specialist* without any known qualifications, and so she
rang off.
Hmmm...

Yes, Marsha...we LCs here at LifeCare refused to participate in
Abbotts' program for obvious reasons. LifeCare trained 8 women and
hired one as CLCs and they are managing the Abbott phone line. Abbott
did insist that they be known as "LCs"....can't win them all and
believe me, it has caused lots of confusion w/e-mails and forwards to
our M@W program. Sigh.
