Youtube video on how to make a sling from a bed sheet.  It's 2:18.  I'm thinking the mom with the 3 kids may not have extra money to go buy a sling, but she probably has an extra sheet in the house.  There are also links to other Youtube videos on making slings from t-shirts and what-not.

I may need to explain my NPR/PBS comment (bad joke) for the non-Americans.  NPR is National Public Radio, rather intellectual, liberal, and interesting radio programming.  PBS is Public Broadcasting Service.  Has lots of interesting, and mostly commercial-free TV shows and many educational shows for kids (Sesame Street and the like).  The perception is that you're kind of snooty if you only listen to/watch NPR/PBS.
