It's unfortunate that Bradley students are seen "as hard to work with".
As a doula, Bradley classes were my choice for training (it's a
requirement to take a series of childbirth classes). I found them
incredibly empowering. They stressed how it's your body, your birth and
your baby. Basically, how not to be just another statistic (read how
not to be a sheep). That isn't the typical patient. Isn't this the
kind of mother we would normally celebrate if her circumstance were
different (healthy baby, mom advocating for herself)?
Lots of info is on the web if you do a search with name Sabrina Cuddy.
It will bring up more than 400 matches many of which involve the Bradley
Childbirth method.
On the Ezzo note, BRAVO Leslie Ward! Well said. I've seen GKGW in
practice in one home that I know of. The punishment was much more
severe than the crime, (whipping with a leather belt that was displayed
on the kitchen wall for the minor infraction of rolling a ball in the
house, the child had just turned five). The rationalization is that if
you don't listen for the little things, you won't listen for the big.
No, he'll just get better at hiding the evidence. It'll guarentee
either years of therapy or a perpetuation of the violent cycle. Just
what we need more people to incarcerate.
