I suggested to Querida, knowing her personal background and isolation, that
she ask on Lactnet for ideas. Knowing how important the internet is for
her, in such an isolated position, I feel somewhat responsible now for the
anxiety and defensiveness evident in her last email. I certainly hope that
it doesn't deter Querida from participating on Lactnet.
Whilst Linda makes many valid points, Kathy's response was more helpful and
realistic for the wide range of experiences and situations candidates are
in.
We've offered exam prep seminars for 8 years now and I have seen candidates
just wanting to pass the exam and others wanting to genuinely improve their
knowledge and have this confirmed through becoming an IBLCE. Querida, with
a history of volunteerism in NMAA, is in the latter category.
We know that candidates experience anxiety in the last few weeks prior to
an exam and having other candidates around her physically to share and
support each other is not an option.. Lactnet is... I'm sure she'll
appreciate words of encouragement and the experiences of others.
