Dear Readers:

It has been brought to my attention that someone stated that at a recent
conference, I stated that Reglan(metoclopramide) was the cause of "Strokes"
in some patients.

I have never heard this before, and I can assure you that from all I can
read, this does not occur. Some patients may get depression and brief
extrapyramidal symptoms(jerks), and maybe tardive dyskinesia in extremely
rare situations, but this does NOT include strokes or any such phenomenona.

If I said such, which I doubt, I plead "temporary insanity".

This may have been so stated by another speaker, but I do not remember
having said so myself.

Reglan, aside from the above problems, is a safe drug when used briefly and
in carefully selected patients.

Regards

Tom Hale, Ph.D.
