Sorry this is so late (I'm behind, had to concentrate on a presentation
instead of Lactnet)...
Mom might be able to bf comfortably by changing the baby's position so
his tongue is over the undamaged part of the nipple, and his palate is
over the cut.
Also, when an older baby bites the breast, it can be a sign that he is
trying to control milk flow, either mom has a fast MER, or baby is not
able to keep milk pooled on his tongue until he is ready to swallow
(poor bolus formation or retention). Mom can try leaning back when she
bf's so milk will move to the front of baby's mouth. She can also walk
around while bfing, nurse on one breast per feeding, detach baby when
the MER occurs and let it subside a bit before putting him back to
breast.
