Laurena:

If eliminating dairy isn't improving the situation, perhaps the
culprit is another food. This woman has been a heroine, but she needs
some answers fast. To efficiently track down the offending food, she
might try the more radical elimination diet, described in the Lactnet
digests. Basically the mother limits her diet to a small slate of
non-processed foods with low potential for an allergic reaction -- she
roasts a turkey or some lamb, makes a pot of rice or millet, and a pot
of squash, using only salt, pepper and olive oil (The archives would
suggest some additional foods.) If she fills the house with what she
can eat, it's easier to ignore what she can't. And then she just feeds
on this limited fare for 4 dull days. If the baby seems to be improving
she can slowly start adding familiar foods back, keeping a diary, and
see when the baby reacts.

Dairy proteins evidently take a week or two to clear the mother's
system. But if the elimination diet doesn't seem to help, maybe it's
not a food issue. How rigorously was the reflux idea examined? (Was the
baby examined/tested by a pediatric gastroenterologist or was it a more
casual observation by the pediatrician.)

Good luck to all.
