Custody Cases are a real heart-breaker.  LLLI (847-519-7730) has a full
packet of Legal information for mothers AND last January (1996) the LLLI
publication, NEW BEGINNINGS:  Breastfeeding Journal had an outstanding
article on advocating for the bf relationsh in custody and visitation by
Liz Baldwin, JD, Esq.  I strongly recommend obtaining a copy of this
article.  It has a wonderful step-by-step approach, the rationale for
minimizing separation, yet maintaining a reasonable, rationale view in the
eyes of the courts.
