Greetings!

I wanted to thank everyone for sharing your experience and suggestions with
me on this case. The parents put in so much work and I'm happy to say the
infant is finally growing at a steady pace of 1 oz a day and has grown 2
1/2 inches since birth (however I never get too excited about length as it
can be so inaccurate). Unfortunately, the GI issues still persist. To date
the baby is currently on day 8 (going into day 9) with no bowel movements.
The pediatrician is still insisting this is normal. I was able to get the
pediatrician on the phone and she is adamant that there is no issue with a
3 week old going over 7 days without a bowel movement. The parents are
choosing to go along with the advice of the pediatrician and not pursue the
referral I made to the pediatric gastroenterologist. However, they still
call me at least twice daily with questions to which all I can say at this
point is that their best bet would be to consult with a pediatric GI. They
have also enlisted the collective wisdom of google and parenting forum's
that have assured them that a 3 week old going almost 9 days with a bowel
movement is ok. It is always frustrating when we can see a problem so
clearly but everyone else says that everything is ok. But that is the
nature of working in healthcare.

Take Care,
