Ellen,
Another expression I use to explain emptying/draining is "softening of the
breast." Kathy Auerbach taught me that one and I use it alot with my moms.
Often they are astounded to learn the breast is never really "empty"......
I teach them to go by feel, and not nurse the clock. Of course, if the truth
be known, I am a big proponent of nursing on one side per feeding anyway!
