I am so far not of any opinions in the code-violators discussion -- as many
of you know (no flames please) I think the existence of the code is a very
marginal issue for nearly all in the US for reasons that have more to do with
xenophobia than with breastfeeding, and it doesn't do the bf cause much good
among Americans do associate it with the prestige of the US. No flames
please.

However, a factual report -- among middle class mothers in New York City
those who are breastfeeding but supplementing -- either some formula or
pumped milk or whatever -- the bottle of choice these days, by a large
margin, is the Avent. All-formula moms are nearly all Playtex or Gerber
users. Show me a 4 months old baby getting formula in an Avent bottle, and
I will show you a mother who is about to tell you a long story about why it
was impossible for her to breastfeed exclusively.

Elisheva Urbas, NYC
who went over to Avent bottles for expressed-milk feeds with the third child,
after having just used the medela ones for the first two. So what does that
say about the Code???
