I'm trying to figure out the responses to the article about the
Norwegian woman who sold her milk and used the money to get a car. Are
we surprised that she had so much milk? WE all know there are some
women with copious quantities of milk. When my son was born premature 7
years ago and I pumped in the NICU, the nurses claimed they had never
seen someone pump as much colostrom as I did. I, too, was blessed with
plenty of milk for my children. I never put to the test whether could
produce as much as Ms Lie, didn't know about milk banks.
Are we surprised that she sold the milk? In the course of history, it
is only very recently that women have donated their milk for free as an
act of charity, and that selling it raises ethical questions. Many
women throughout history have supported themselves and their families
by wet nursing and by selling their milk. If there was someone in
Norway to buy the milk , and the going price was noted in the article,
then I imagine that she is not the only one who sells her milk. She
just has a lot of milk to sell.
Seems that the reason it made it into the paper was that she had so
much milk, or perhaps as Rachel suggested that she was able to get a
car in Norway for such a great price.

Have a good weekend, all.
