Hi list mates
I am a silent lucker here. But I am a pedi nurse with a very strong
interest in mothers bf there infants. I have come across something that I
would like the group to address. I am also on the list Parents-chat.
Which is a group of parents with disability wanting to improve their
parenting skills. I too am disabled with M.S. but continue to work with
new moms. The discussion is on bf and some on list feel that breastfeeding
is likely to be an indirect cause of their death. There theory is that
without weightbearing, women cannot rebuild their calcium reserve. So they
are saying if you do no standing you should think twice about nursing. Now
my thinking is just the opposite. I feel that if a mom is disabled that
nursing would have so many benefits I could go on and on about. So what I
would like to know what the rest of you think about this. Have there been
any studies about disabled women and bf. Do any of you have any experience
working with a disabled mom. Thank you. Ellen
