I really feel Barbara hit the nail on the head why I have an issue with the
whole Similac ad mommy wars. So many people see this ad, talk about how
great it is that all moms should get along and anyone who supports
breastfeeding is being mean to moms who use formula. As Barbara so
eloquently said we meet moms where they are at, we listen and help them with
their goals, but this ad pushes the sterotype that anyone who supports
breastfeeding must be doing it by starting the war of who is a better
mother.

Even in the debate we are having here about how words can hurt - I really
doubt any of us would work with a mom who is using formula and tell her
'breast is best' and the dangers of formula. But this ad is making it seem
of course we always say a hurtful thing to a mom because we have to 'push
our agenda'. I am starting to wonder if part of this ad was to try to guilt
breastfeeding supporters into feeling they need to never mention the
benefits of breastfeeding ever again.
