I am working with a mom of an 11 month old. He was 6-8 at birth, and is now 15-3. He is below the 10th percentile for height. He is active and crawls all over the place. Nurses frequently and eats like a normal 11 month old, kind of picky. She has been working on increasing calories in his diet. MD says to wean and put him on formula to increase weight.

Mom is small, was 17 pounds at a year. Mom has neurofibromatosis, a mild case. Baby also is showing signs, has many cafe au lait spots, but from what I understand, children rarely show symptoms before puberty. Just wondering if there could be any connection between his slow weight gain and his neurofibromatosis, or if this is just a slow gainer growing at the same rate his mom grew?

She is also wondering and I told her I would ask and see if anyone else has had an experience with this.
