I have heard several times recently that women were told that drinking
was *not recommended* during breastfeeding -- they were not given
indications about whether that included moderate or even occasional
alcohol. And, when giving hospital tours, one nurse said, "We used to
let parents put champagne in here to celebrate the birth, but now we
don't do that because alcohol is dangerous for breastfeeding mothers."
It is not stated like this in LLL literature, as you know, but sometimes
"other mothers" (i.e. not Leaders) make very strong statements against
drinking even a drop of alcohol during breastfeeding. Of course they do
that about coffee, too.
