Cynthia, all good points, thanks for the input.

I also suggested to the mother that it very well could have been the formula that the ER gave to her husband for the baby. The baby had not been exposed to bottles, formula, foods, or separation at that point. She did not save any breastmilk to be tested etc .The separation and subsequent bottle feeding was for 1 day. 

Nursing resumed the next day and according to the mother it was another day past before any fussiness was noted. The mother is very aware of the problems the 'free samples' from the hospital (may have)cost her. Her paper is more going to be from the angle that no one in the ER could give her any information about the drugs or the toxins with regard to breastfeeding.
