I'm trained in the USA medical healthcare system. My first inclination
would be to refer her to her doctor to culture the milk and treat with the
appropriate antibiotics for the appropriate length of time. In our archives
are several good posts from our bf-knowledgeable family practice docs
and/or our bf medicine docs.

There are other ways to treat mastitis, I believe, which are homeopathic or
herbal based. And inflammation reducing lifestyle and diet changes, of
which there are also archived posts.

Some mothers whose oversupply has not been helped by full drainage/block
feeding may be helped by herbal anti-galactagogues such as sage, or drugs
such as psuedoephedrine or birth control pills, which I am not and would
not recommend to be used without careful consideration of risks/benefits
etc.
