so all injuries have been ruled out. Mom says that this is her 3rd baby and he is now 9 weeks old. Has been breastfeeding without any problems since birth until last week. Reportedly has a large purple blue area on breast and on nipple. Has difficulty with MER on that side with baby at breast but is able to pump normal amount. Denies pumping too forcefully. Denies baby causing injury. Only has pain with pressure on the site. No significant medical history except said that she need "extra pitocin" after delivery due to heavy post partum bleeding. Denies any pain with dorsiflexion but has pain behind the knees. No edema or red areas on the breast or on the joints. No fever. I am going to see her tomorrow but I suggested she call her OB today to rule out any sort of undiagnosed bleeding disorder and/or ultrasound evaluation of breast. Too much? What would you do? Thanks
