The mother is in a difficult situation isn't she?  If she continues
nursing and has another miscarriage, she will be blamed, even though the
first 3 pregnancies miscarried even though she *wasn't* nursing, at
least from what I understand.

There is no evidence that nursing during pregnancy increases the rate of
miscarriage. At several conferences I have given, I have asked
obstetricians "Can you provoke early labour, say at 12 weeks gestation,
by giving large doses of oxytocin IV?"  The answer is almost always no.
But then, obstetricians will often say "You gotta wean because the
oxytocin (small amounts) during breastfeeding will provoke labour".
Give me a break.
