<<Since I am new to the Lactnet and not as well versed in the Code as
others,
will someone explain how Avent has been a code violator.
Cheryl Muller, RNC, IBCLC>>

From "Breaking the rules 2001" (IBFAN) :

Avent advertise its products in various magazine, telling that Avent "give
the flexibility you need to breastfeed, bottle-feed or combine the two" - or
"the freedom to choose".
Avent advertise over the internet, promoting tue "natural form" of its
bottles, which allows baby to suckle "similar to breastfeeding"
Shops in United Arab Emirates and Mexico distribute Avent brochures
promoting bottle feeding. Special promotions, sales and displays are used in
the United Arab Emirates and Italy.
Avent bottle and teats tackages showing mothers and fathers bottle feeding
babies. Make comparisons with mother breast, and discourage breastfeeding
(Just like mother breast - Your baby natural feeding companion up to 36
months - Medically proven to reduce colic in the newborn)

Global score card : substantcial violations in the fields ot promotion to
the public, and labelling.
