I went to an interesting lecture today, Prof. Mark Sperling of Children's
Hospital in Pittsburgh, on prevention and prediction of IDDM in children.
Was hoping to hear a plug for breastfeeding, but when he got to bovine
protein, he said it was "controversial" and wasn't going to discuss it.

Could someone tell me if human breastmilk has nicotinamide (the amide of
nicotinic acid)? Prof. Sperling said in his lecture that if given
nicotinamide, onset of IDDM can be delayed in many cases.

I'm curious if nicotinamide is in human milk, thus reducing juvenile DM
among breastfed children.

Thanks. Judy Knopf in Beer Sheva, Israel
