There is a wonderful article, albeit very scientific and partially over
my head, about this.  Hansen, Lars A., "Breastfeeding Stimulates the
Infant Immune System,"  Science and Medicine, November/December 1997.  He
states, "[A] kidney transplanted from a mother to her offspring survives
and functions significantly better if she has breastfed that child than
if she has not.  A similar striking effect has been seen for kidneys
transplanted between siblings with one shared haplotype, as between
mother and child.  Breastfeeding of donor and recipient was strongly
related to good function of the transplant."
