Pam, I would be concerned as well. Like we have talked about before, the
evolving pathways to becoming IBCLC can leave gaps in a candidates
education. Hopefully in the future, there will be more opportunities for
candidates to train under experienced IBCLC's and opportunities for us who
have been practicing for many years and re-certified several times, to
mentor them.
It is possible that her care plan was more involved than what she charted
because she didn't have alot of time to chart, and maybe the baby was going
to the peds the next day or something like that?
The LC may have even taken mom's phone no. home with her to followup?
In any case, I'm sure this will be a valuable learning experience for her.
Why don't you suggest she subscribe to lactnet?
