After reading the archives, I still feel the need to run this by y'all.  

 

Mom has 3 month old baby and had fluid filled cyst in breast causing a lot
of pain.  Her OB recommended getting it checked by a breast surgeon, who
felt it should be popped, drained and tested.  This was done 6 days ago.
Mom has mostly been pumping on that side.  She states that one duct squirts
out blood, while the remaining unaffected ducts express milk.  She called
and asked if she can feed from that breast, which I told her should be fine,
unless baby then starts throwing up a lot of blood, at which point would be
a sign of too much blood for him.  (bottles of breast milk are pink tinged,
not blood red)  

 

This is what the surgeon said:  the milk filled cyst is now blood filled and
will continue to fill with blood until she weans.  (???)  We did discuss
decreasing the suction to minimal on that side to allow the blood to clot
and we also explored the option of down regulating that side and possibly
weaning fully from that breast and feeding only from the unaffected side.  

 

Any experience with this???  We are at a "wait and see" point, which is
fine, but if you have had any experience with this I would appreciate
learning from you!
